Blow Out Preventers & Spares
Rig Route sources all kinds and sizes of BOPs & Annular along with the fastest and most cost-effective solutions for the spare parts requirements.
What is BOP?
Blowout Preventers (BOPs) play a pivotal role in the oil and gas industry, serving as a crucial line of defense against the uncontrolled flow of well fluids. Positioned at the top of the wellhead, these robust barriers are designed to halt hydrocarbon release from the wellbore. They are the ultimate safeguard against blowouts, which can severely damage the drilling rig’s environment and personnel. BOPs, available in various blow-out preventer types and sizes, with unique operating mechanisms and control methods, are indispensable safety devices. They not only preserve the well’s integrity but also ensure the well-being of the rig’s workforce.
Blowout Preventer (BOP) stacks are composed of blow out preventer parts, such as valves and rams installed on top of the wellhead casing to prevent uncontrolled flow of well fluids during drilling, completion, and production operations. Depending on well depth, borehole diameter, and operating pressures, BOP stacks come in various sizes and configurations.
Generally, BOP stacks are classified into two categories, annular type, and ram type, with a typical three-ram configuration consisting of one blind shear ram, one pipe ram, and one variable bore ram.
The sizes of BOP stacks can range from 7-1/16″ to 21-1/4″, with some stacks capable of withstanding pressures as high as 15,000 psi. Other sizes for BOP stacks include 11″, 13-5/8″, and 16-3/4″, with custom sizes available for specialized applications
Various kinds of RAM Blocks
There are different types of ram blocks used in various situations, including:
It is designed to shear the drill pipe and seal off the wellbore in case of emergencies.
The pipe ram is designed to seal around the outer diameter of the drill pipe and prevent the uncontrolled flow of hydrocarbons.
These types of ram blocks are used to seal around a range of pipe sizes and can be adjusted to accommodate different pipe sizes.
